 About

In 1997, KMC was founded as a private medical college in the capital city of Nepal. The institution is recognized as a permanent affiliate of Kathmandu University and is fully recognized by the Nepal Medical Council, Sri Lankan Medical Council, UK General Medical Council, and the Indian Government.

Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) is one of the oldest and most prestigious medical schools in Nepal. The school offers a variety of courses that are designed to give students the skills they need to start their careers as physicians. KMC also has a strong research department, which helps the school stay ahead of the latest trends in health care.

Kathmandu Medical College (KMC), a private institution, has been operational for more than ten years. On May 1, 2000, KMC was taken over by Ltd., which included prominent doctors, business leaders, and charity organizations. The motivation for starting this project was the high cost of medical education overseas, as well as the fact that it is out of reach for the great majority of people, and the goal is to offer healthcare that is readily available, reasonably priced, and of exceptional quality. This is evidenced by the fact that KMC Teaching Hospital receives an increasing number of ill and impoverished people.

The institution is situated in Kathmandu, which has easy access to domestic and international flights, and operates from two complexes – basic sciences in Duwakot and clinical sciences at Sinamangal. Dr. Prof. Shrinivas Govind Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuwan University and previous Chief Executive Officer of the IOM, is the CEO. The Professor is Hemang Dixit, who was previously Dean of IOM/T.U. Several of our professors have taught in medical institutions in India and abroad, having gained considerable experience.

KMCTH is permanently affiliated with Kathmandu University and its vocational experience is believed to help physicians sit in other institutions’ postgraduate entrance exams.. After earning a bachelor’s degree in medicine, many students take the USMLE, PLAB, or the Medical Council of India licensing exam. From June 2002, the WHO’s World Directory of Medical Schools – the electronic format has listed Kathmandu Medical College. After receiving full recognition from NMC, KMC is currently listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED). KMC has been designated as an Associate Member of the Network Towards Unity for Health (TUFH), located in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

KMC’s main goal is to develop competent medical practitioners who may make a difference in society via their expertise, attitude, talents, and professionalism. KMC is rapidly establishing itself as medical education and high-quality medical care center, based on a student-centered curriculum that is community as well as problem and needs to be driven.
